ClubGRANTS is one of Australia’s largest grant programs, providing more than $100 million in cash each year to a variety of worthy causes across NSW.

Charities, sporting organisations and not-for-profit community groups are among tens of thousands of worthy causes funded through the program each year

Local community groups are encouraged to apply for funding with a new round of the ClubGRANTS program now open.   

ClubGRANTS Category 1 is currently accepting applications for initiatives that support welfare and social services, community development, employment assistance activities, health services, and projects aimed at improving the living standards of low income and disadvantaged people. The committee will also consider other local identified needs within the Shoalhaven.   

The Shoalhaven Local Committee has identified the following priority areas for funding support in the Shoalhaven: safe & prepared communities, affordable housing opportunities, vibrant culture & connected communities, sustainable environments, children & families thrive, healthy & active communities, opportunities for lifelong learning, economic opportunities, and accessible transport.

Examples of projects that could be eligible under these priority areas include, but are not limited to: disaster preparedness training, tenancy support programs, multicultural festivals, bush regeneration activities, healthy eating programs, short fee free courses, financial literacy programs and community transport initiatives, to name a few.

Submissions will be reviewed by the Shoalhaven Local Committee which comprises representatives from Shoalhaven City Council, Department of Communities and Justice, Illawarra Shoalhaven Local Health District, Shoalhaven Neighbourhood Services, and registered local licensed clubs in the Shoalhaven.  

In 2023 the registered Clubs funded over 35 applications providing a combined total funding over $235,000.00 to support initiatives across the Shoalhaven to enable our community to thrive. Local community groups that have previously benefited from ClubGRANTS funding include:   

• Supported Accommodation & Homelessness Services Shoalhaven Illawarra (SAHSSI) 
• Milton Ulladulla Men’s Shed 
• Culburra Volunteer Rural Fire Brigade 
• Nowra Youth Centre 
• Shoalhaven Education Fund 

Applications can be lodged online via the Clubs NSW website and close 31 May. 

ClubGRANTS is a state-wide initiative that provides financial support for projects and services that contribute to the wellbeing of local communities.

Each year through ClubGRANTS, clubs across NSW provide support to tens of thousands of local community organisations, sporting groups, and charities that make a difference in their local area.

The funding is provided by six registered clubs across the shire. They are the Bermagui Country Club, Club Bega, Club Sapphire Merimbula, Eden Fishermen’s Recreation Club, Merimbula RSL and Tura Beach Country Club.

We are pleased to announce that this year’s ClubGRANTS funding round (category 1) opens 9am Thursday 1 February 2024.

Applications close 9am Friday 31 May 2024 with no applications accepted after this date.

Please note:

• Successful applicants will be notified in July and grant payments will be awarded in August.
• Organisations which have not submitted a standard funding report from their last ClubGRANTS Category 1 funding will not be considered.

Funding Priorities

1. Community wellbeing projects that provide support for sections of the community facing disadvantage including:

• Aboriginal People
• Children & Families
• People from Culturally and Linguistically Diverse Backgrounds
• People with a Disability
• Men
• Older People
• Women
• Young People
• Volunteering

2. Projects that have limited funding opportunities.
3. Projects that strengthen and coordinate the work of not-for-profit community organisations in the shire.
4. Projects that target problem gambling treatment, support and prevention activities.
5. Projects that meet the above criteria and haven't received funding in prior rounds.

2024 Queanbeyan-Palerang Club Grants - Category 1 General Assistance

Shellharbour City community groups/organisations can seek financial support through the Category One funding program. This category supports community welfare and social services, community development, employment assistance activities, community health services and projects aimed at improving the living standards of low income and disadvantaged people.

The aim of the Shellharbour ClubGRANTS Local Committee is to oversee the Category One funding process. The Committee is made up of representatives from Shellharbour City Council, Department of Communities and Justice, the local community and the following local licensed clubs:

Oak Flats Bowling and Recreation Club

The Shellharbour Club

Warilla Bowls & Recreation Club

Shellharbour 2024 ClubGRANTS Category One Local Priorities

Shellharbour ClubGRANTS Local Committee will consider not-for-profit organisations/projects/programs that are:

a) delivered within the Shellharbour Local Government Area

b) not eligible for funding under another funding grant

AND PRIORITISE

* Initiatives that support vulnerable or disadvantaged community members, in particular those outlined below.

Social and Community
- People feel and are socially connected.
- Access to transport services and programs to improve access and connection.
Empowerment
- People can make decisions affecting them and their lives such as access to information, services and technology.
Safety
- Enhance safety and the perception of safety within a community.
- All children are safe from harm.
- All people are safe from domestic and family violence.
Home
- People have a safe and affordable place to live.
- Enhance the public perception of people who are homeless.
Education and Skills
- Enhance opportunities for people to learn, achieve and contribute.
Economic
- Decrease the proportion of youths who are disengaged.
- Greater access to employment for disadvantaged groups.
Health
- Access to services and programs among our vulnerable population groups.
- Keep people healthy.
- Improve mental health and wellbeing.

*Assist small non-profit community organisations or groups with:

- Minor capital expenses (electrical equipment, computers, software, furniture etc.)

* Improve outcomes for specific target groups within the Shellharbour community:

- Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people
- Culturally and linguistically diverse communities
- Refugees and emerging communities
- Those experiencing or at risk of homelessness, in particular women
- LGBTQIA+ community
- People 65 years and over
- People with disabilities and carers
- Families, in particular young families and expectant mothers
- Youth 12 - 24 years
- Children 0 – 5 years and pre-teens 8 – 14 years
